About the Cartel

In early spring of 2011, we lost my brother to colon cancer. My brother had a passion for bikes of all kinds. He sadly gave up riding and had to sell his RC51 when his daughter was born. Up until the time of his passing he would speak of riding once more, he spoke of getting a building a bobber or café racer. Since we were kids we spoke of how cool bikes were, what we could do with them, and when we both would even get our own. We spoke of taking some rides all over the US and camping along the way. All he wanted to do was ride again. This site is dedicated to Robert William McWhorter born 1975-2011……. We have a love for the machines we ride and are drawn to the life style surrounding these machines. We want to chronicle the rides we take, the builds we make….and everything fun about these machines from all out speed, performance, and there customization. The builders the riders, the track, music, artists…what we think of riding gear We want to show you what it is to ride a garage built suicide machines……while we will try to update this site daily, we sometimes find ourselves to busy with our other passions. So check in and enjoy.. FUCK WORK LETS RIDE!

1978 Kawasaki KZ1000 up for grabs

I bought this bike with the intentions of taking her apart completely, and building myself a replica of Toe Cutter's bike from the movie Mad Max. This bike was running when I purchased it this past June. The previous own happened to leave the lights on during transporting the bike to me. So I have not heard her run or evening attempted to charge the battery. I really hate to sale this bike, because I always wanted a KZ but as it is I already have 3 other café builds to work on with limited time; SO she needs to go.
The previous owner had this bike sitting in his storage for over 15 years, and other than a carb rebuild several years back, it was virtually untouched. Starting from front to rear; the rear indicators had been removed by the previous owner. Both front and rear tires need to be replaced. Front fender chrome is near perfect and shines up nicely. Front brake has a leak at the lever, will require a master cylinder rebuild. Gauge cluster looks good and chrome shines up nicely. Foam grips are good, and controls work as they should. Bars look lower and possibly aftermarket, and shine up nicely. Tank has been cleaned by a local radiator shop and sealed with a plastic sealer. Seat is nice, but one side of pan underneath has rust. The tank, side covers, and rear cowl have all been sanded and painted primer black, then sanded again for the Mad Max look. All tins look good with no broken tabs or repairs, and tank has some dents but no repairs have been done. The tail light works. The factory air box was removed to get to the carbs. I cleaned and inspected the carbs and they looked great! When I put them back on, there is a drip on the #4 carb overflow, (probably a float sticking). I installed all new fuel lines, and in-line filter to ensure clean fuel to carbs. Petcock was also removed and cleaned. New battery. The oil looked new, so I assume it was replaced when the carbs were rebuilt. The pipes look like 4 into 1 Kerker pipes and exhaust. Rims look good as well.
What work the bike needs:
- master cylinder rebuild
- new cam end plugs
- carb rebuild
- new tires
Other than new tires, I have the master cylinder rebuild kit, the carb rebuild kit, top end gasket, and cam end plugs and I will include these parts with the sale of the bike.
Bike would make a great drag bike, bobber or café…..
Asking $1700-$2000;  This bike is being sold as with no warranty implied. I do have a clear blue title in hand.

Get your issue of Iron & Air and be entered to win a CB750 Cafe Racer fom Dime City Cycles

Where are all the Cafe Builders in Northern VA

There has to be maybe one Cafe builder I know of in Northern VA. Where's the love man?!

Luka Balenovic, love you brother!

On Monday night, Luka Balenovic was killed by a careless driver. Luka was a level headed and safe rider who enjoyed and loved nothing but riding.

So it saddens me that drivers can be so fucking careless. Is that text or phone call really that important? Drivers today are just so complacent, driving around in that cage. In a rush, shaving, reading the paper, putting on make up or tailgating you know who you are!! You could give a rats ass about who else is on the road; let alone if anyone is in your way. Are these things that important that you risk both your lives and that of others on the road? Fucking look out for us, we're trying to get somewhere safely too!!!
